Trevor Castino
Trevor, a student athlete at Castleton University, talks about New Hampton School and the schools impact on his path
What is your name? What grade/year are you currently in, and how long did you attend the school?
My name is Trevor Castino. I am a sophomore at Castleton University (NCAA Division III).
Which preparatory school did you attend, and what influenced your decision?
I attended New Hampton School. I chose it because of the competitive conference, rigorous academics, and strong financial aid support.
Describe a typical in-season day.
After breakfast, I attended several classes until game time. After games, we returned to the dorms for study time until room checks.
Off-season routine?
I skate early in the mornings and lift in the evenings. I aim to skate at least four times a week and work out daily.
How did you balance athletics and academics?
I built strong relationships with teachers. They were always willing to help as long as I communicated and showed effort.
Professional goals / prep school impact?
I plan to earn a business degree with strong grades and play professional hockey. Many of the study habits I use in college came from prep school.
Advice?
Prep schools offer incredible resources, but they only matter if you use them. Be proactive—it can be the best time of your life.
