Alexander Krause
Alex offers insight to how Loomis Chaffee has helped him in his pursuit a pro career after he finishes his collegiate career
What is your name? What grade/year are you currently in, and how long did you attend the school?
My name is Alexander Krause. I am currently a senior at Dartmouth College, graduating in 2026. I attended Loomis Chaffee.
Which preparatory school did you attend, and what key factors influenced your decision to enroll at that institution?
I chose Loomis Chaffee because it checked every box that mattered to me—strong academics, a great culture, a competitive hockey program, and a convenient location.
Please describe a typical day during the competitive season, including your schedule and the balance between training, academics, and other commitments.
A typical day consisted of school until the afternoon, followed by practice right after classes. The rhythm of the day was very similar to what I experience now in college.
How does your daily routine differ during the off-season?
In the spring, there was structured training that prepared us for the fall and winter seasons. I also played other sports such as baseball, golf, and lacrosse.
How did you manage to balance your athletic responsibilities with your academic coursework?
Balancing everything felt manageable. Prep schools genuinely want you to succeed, and they provide a ton of structure and support.
What are your professional objectives over the next five years, and how did attending a preparatory school contribute to those goals?
My long-term goal is to play professional hockey, and Loomis helped me mature both athletically and academically.
If you could offer one piece of advice to prospective students considering a similar preparatory program, what would it be and why?
Go where the lifestyle fits and where the school checks the boxes that matter to you. Most importantly, choose a school where you will get the opportunity to play.
